Frequently Asked Questions

How does UPI Alert work?

UPI Alert reads incoming UPI payment notifications from apps like Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, and others, then announces the payment amount via voice. It works by using Android's Notification Listener service — no root or special setup needed.

Which UPI apps are supported?

UPI Alert works with all major UPI apps including Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, CRED, Amazon Pay, WhatsApp Pay, BHIM, and all bank UPI apps. If it sends a payment notification, UPI Alert can read it.

Does UPI Alert work offline?

Yes. The core features — voice alerts and transaction history — work completely offline. An internet connection is only needed for optional cloud backup and Pro plan AI analytics.

Is my data safe?

Absolutely. All transaction data is stored locally on your device with AES-256 encryption. We never sell your data. Any data transfer (like cloud backup) uses end-to-end TLS 1.3 encryption. Read our full Privacy Policy for details.

Why is the alert not playing?

Make sure: (1) Notification access is granted in Settings > Apps > UPI Alert, (2) Battery optimization is disabled for UPI Alert, (3) Your phone volume is turned up, (4) The app is not force-stopped. On some phones (Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung), you may need to enable "Autostart" for UPI Alert.

How do I cancel my Pro subscription?

Open Google Play Store > tap your profile icon > Payments & subscriptions > Subscriptions > UPI Alert > Cancel. Your Pro features remain active until the end of your billing period.

Can I use UPI Alert on multiple devices?

Currently UPI Alert works on the device where it is installed. Each device reads its own notifications independently. Multi-device sync is on our roadmap.

How do I export my transaction reports?

This feature is available on the Pro plan. Go to Analytics > Reports > Export, and choose PDF or Excel format. You can export daily, weekly, or monthly reports.

Troubleshooting

Alerts not working on Xiaomi / MIUI?

Go to Settings > Apps > Manage apps > UPI Alert > enable "Autostart". Also go to Settings > Battery > App battery saver > UPI Alert > set to "No restrictions".

Alerts not working on Samsung?

Go to Settings > Battery and device care > Battery > Background usage limits > remove UPI Alert from the "Sleeping apps" list.

Alerts not working on Realme / ColorOS?

Go to Settings > App management > UPI Alert > enable "Allow auto-launch". Also disable battery optimization for UPI Alert.

Voice alert is too quiet?

UPI Alert uses your phone's media volume. Press the volume up button, then tap the settings icon to make sure "Media" volume is turned up. You can also adjust alert volume in UPI Alert's settings.
